Southern Railway will run the following special trains to clear extra rush in connection with Adipooram festival at Melmaruvathur.

1) Coimbatore - Melmaruvathur - Coimbatore Specials: Train No. ML-01 Coimbatore - Melmaruvathur Special will leave Coimbatore at 23.30 hrs on 9.8.2010 and arrive Melmaruvathur at 09.00 hrs. the next day. Train No. ML-02 Melmaruvathur - Coimbatore Special will leave Melmaruvathur at 20.40 hrs. on 12.8.2010 and arrive Coimbatore at 03.45 hrs. the next day. RED RIBBON EXPRESS AT CHENNAI CENTRAL

The Red Ribbon Express, the world s largest social mobilization campaign against HIV, will be stabled at the 11th platform of Chennai Central Railway Station for public viewing on 01st and 02nd April, 2010 from 10 am to 6 pm. The entry to the exhibition will be free.

The exhibition train, first flagged off on November 1st, 2007, at New Delhi, has travelled more than 27,000 km covering 166 districts and more than 50,000 villages across the country in the first phase, reaching out to crores of people. In the second phase, the Red Ribbon Express is traversing across India again. It was flagged off on December 1, 2009, from New Delhi for the second phase and will cover 156 railway stations across 24 States before ending its journey in December 2010.
Conceptualized by the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation and implemented by NACO, the Red Ribbon Express is a multi-sectoral project aimed at spreading awareness on HIV, promoting safe behavioural practices and fighting stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV. Ministry of Railways, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports) and UNICEF are the other main partners in this initiative. This multi-sectoral initiative on wheels, it is envisaged, will bring together peoples? representatives, programme functionaries, opinion leaders, media, civil society and citizens to offer a coordinated response to the HIV epidemic in India.
