Landmark book store and Picador India presented a meaningful evening to avid book readers of Chennai as it hosted the book launch of ‘The Temple-Goers’ by Aatish Taseer at Landmark, Nugambakkam on Tuesday. According to the author, in his book he leaves the reader with ‘a feeling both with of unease and hopefulness.’‘That is something akin to what the narrator feels on his arrival in Delhi. I hope by the end of the book is not just a presentiment, but something real and palpable,’ adds he.Aatish’s favourite writer is V S Naipaul, he says. There was a criticism leveled against him that his novel ‘The Temple-goers’ is a fictional elaboration of Naipaul’s view on modern India.The Temple-goers is a seductive and uncompromising debut novel from the author of ‘Stranger to History’ and critically acclaimed translator of ‘Manto: Selected Stories’. Aaatish Taseer, Elle’s most promising Talent 2009, charmed the audience with his charismatic book reading session.
